Digital library initiatives : preservation of digital resources on Malaysian leadership and nation development

Abstract

Examines the digital library initiatives of Perdana Leadership Foundation Library or Perdana Library focusing on its concept. strategy, workplan, organisational structure, digital resources. and collaboration programmes. Perdana Library is classified as a Research Library. The Library aims to move its Library & Resource Center from the conventional library to the state of one large, coherent, Research library structure providing integrated information services and collections on the Nation's policies, strategies and initiatives that were adopted under the various Prime Ministers through its digital library initiatives. This digital initiatives aims to facilitate and provide remote access for all to the collection related to various events connected to previous Prime Ministers and their Cabinets such as books, articles, policy papers, speeches, transcripts and photographs. This will be in line with Perdana Library missions to be a strategic learning resource center, identifying and preserving the intellectual legacies of our Malaysian leaders, as well as promoting a continuous learning environment which contributes to the future development of the people and nation. A brief demonstration of the Library's digital system is also provided at the end of the presentation.
