There is a happening sweeping across the world today which I would like to call the explosion. Thousands of people, perhaps even hundreds of thousands, who for many years have led sedentary lives have been bitten by the exercise habit. Be it jogging, swimming, bicycling or aerobic dancing - they are there doing it. The exercise phenomenon has spawned a multbillion dollar industry worldwide. While the phenomenon appears to have taken root firmly in developed countries, we in Malaysia too are caught up in its throes. Perhaps this is a time to take stock of our fortunes in the area of high performance sport and use the interest generated by the exercise explosion to uplift our status in the arena of international competition.-
