Many querries have been raised about the origins and history of the Sam-Sams, a Thai-speaking community in Kedah, Perlis, and Setul. In fact various theories and speculations on both aspets make lively discussions among scholars. Generally, it is agreed that the Sam-Sams form a substantial portion of the inhabitants in the northern and astern parts of Kedah--Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Baling. They are iso numerous in Perlis and Setul, with this ends the scholarly consensus.-
