The role of the principal in the supervision and implementation of educational programmes in Malaysian schools

Abstract

This paper will focus on the supervisory role of the principal in implementing educational programmes at the school and classroom level. The success and failure of any educational policy and changes, to a large degree, will be dependent upon the leadership provided by the principal and the performance of the teacher in the classroom. This paper deals with the theory of organisation in relation to the performance of the teacher and the supportive role provided by the principal in the implementation of educational changes at the classroom level. Some of the examples that can be viewed in this context are curriculum changes and organisational changes in schools in the country.
