In the present study, we report in vitro and in vivo inhibiting potential of crude extract of neem leaves (Azadirachta indica) and crude extract of Basil leaves (Ocimum tenuiflorum) on the replication of Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) also known as chicken pox and bacterial infection. In vitro antiviral activity of Varicella Zoster Virus has been altered by the presence of neem leaves extract in Hep2 and Vero cells lines in dose dependent manner and the in vitro antibacterial activity of basil leaves extract on culture media showed in previous study by Kirthana. The extract of neem leaves at its maximum non-toxic concentration of 1.9 mg/ml completely inhibited the replication of the virus as indicated by the absence of cytophatic effects on the both cell lines. Indeed, the presence ofOmega-3s, Vitamin A and C and magnesium in the seaweed gracilaria, improves the suppleness and elasticity of the skin. Hence, the production of cream with the combination of neem leaves extract, basil leaves extract and seaweed gracilaria are expected to heal the wounds of vesic1es in the effect of the VZV infection without major scars and secondary bacterial infection.-
