dc.description.abstractThis paper addresses the problem oj allocating acquisitions Jund oj an academic library. Library's acquisition funds should contribute to the achievement oj the goals and objectives oj the library. The purpose oj this paper is to illustrate the use oj mathematicals models and a goal programming technique that will allow librarians to find an optimal solution Jor allocating acquisition Junds while prioritizing funding objectives. We apply this model to the Library oj Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Selangor. The data used by this model was obtained from the 2006 UKM Library Annual Report by UKM Library. The application oj this Jormula considered five goals and resulted in a successful distribution oJthe budget.-
