Melochinone, a quinolinone alkaloid compound was isolated from methanol extract partitioned by chloroform in heartwood ofpaliasa (Melochia umbellata var. Degrabarata K). The structure of this compound was elucidated based on UV, IR, I H-NMR and 13 c- NMR spectroscopic analysis and the result showed the plant can be a prospective potential towards medical application.
