Abstract: This study examined the relationship of personality type, coping responses and perceive level of stress among Iranian university students. Four hundred and six students (n=406) participated in this study. The students were between 18 to 35 years old. Using paper and pencil test, the students were asked to respond to a set of questionnaires. Data collected from the questionnaires were analyzed using multiple regression analysis to predict the overall stress from Type A-B status and coping responses. Results from the study shows that all predictors were significantly related to the perceive stress index. However, the regression equation with the Type A-B status was found to be insignificant. The result also suggested that the approach responses appeared to be a better predictor of the stress index when compared to the avoidant responses. Since previous research have shown that personality type, coping responses and level of stress were related to the ability to learn, this paper will also discuss implications of the variables on the students ability to develop life-long learning process.
