Every profession normally has a code of ethical behaviour, whether written or unwritten. This code is generally related to the job specifications or in simple terms the duties encompassed in that job or profession. Ethical dilemmas are unavoidable in the work world but what specifically is considered unethical behaviour among academic staff in tertiary institutions in Malaysia ? Which actions or behaviour patterns are deemed ethical and which unethical? Are there varying perceptions between academic and administrative staff or heads of departments on what constitutes ethical behaviour? Are the priorities or focus as to what constitutes ethical behaviour of organizational heads on par with that of academic staff or is there a difference even in this aspect? Perceptions on what constitutes ethical behaviour must be vocalized and discussed at forums of this nature so that ignorance of what constitutes unethical behaviour is not cited as a reason for transgressing norms of expected behaviour.en_US
