Abstract: The term "human rights", like "democracy", in course of time has shifted from being a concept to almost pure rhetoric. One is presumed to be morally right when justifying any action on the grounds of "human rights". Similarly, many actions by major powers in the world today are justified on the grounds that they are aimed at containing and eliminating "terrorism".
