| Abstract: | Business failures are becoming very much a part of everyday life. Such failures are caused by a number of factors, some more pronounced than others but certain basic root causes can be identified and symptoms established. This paper attempts from a sample study of 5 problem projects (or about 10% of problem projects being handled by NIDFB) to identify the major causes and symptoms of failure. However a mere list of causes and symptoms no matter how comprehensive is not enough. What is lacking from such an inventory is the dynamics of failure, the sequencing of events. A modest attempt would thus be made towards that direct- ion in this paper. |
