Abstract: The objective of the study is to examine technical and economic aspects of productivity for two padi processing plants located in an irrigated double-cropping padi area in West Selangor. Empirical data relating to the cost structures, capacity utilization and efficiency of drying, storage and milling in the two plants is It is observed that the mill employing the presented and analysed. less modern milling and storage technology has a higher degree of capacity utilization and is economically more efficient. Finally, some policy prescriptions resulting from the study are detailed in a concluding section.
