| Abstract: | If your organisation uses a fleet of company cars and you find that they are off the road more often than they are available for use, you have a productivity problem. The reason for loss of productivity could be attributed to: the drivers who through incompetence or uncaring attitudes misuse the vehicles causing frequent breakdowns, and down-time following accident damage, the economic life of the vehicles may be well past for the type of usage you demand, the particular model, selected on the basis of lowest tender, may be too fragile for your company use, poor maintenance back-up, etc. Changing to a different model will not help much if the problem lies with the drivers. Training the drivers to achieve greater skill will not help much if there are deep-rooted causes for discontent among the drivers. |
