| Abstract: | Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen and friends, I would like to express my gratitude to EPSM the hosts of this seminar for having given me the opportunity to share my views with you this morning. For many years EPSM has been doing valuable work in spreading awareness of environmental issues facing the nation but unfortunately public appreciation though increasing has not been wide-spread. The education role of voluntary organizations therefore remains vital. I have been asked to speak on Public Participation and Responsibility' in the context of a review of the past decade in environmental affairs. So I shall begin by examining the major issues and the responses thereto (both favourable and unfavourable), then go on to the prospects for the. future with special reference to the role of the Malaysian public. |
