Abstract

1. WHAT IS PROJEK USAHAMAJU It is an action research proogramme under the joint sponsorship of Korporasi Pembangunan Desa (Provides Loan Capital and Operation Costs) and Institute for Development Studies (IDS) Sabah (Provides Research Costs). Objectives: 1. The broad objective is mainly to develop an innovative approach to reduce Rural Poverty in Saban. 2. The Development Objectives; to extand credit facilities exclusively to the poor, to create opportunities for self-employment, to break the old-age vicious cycle among the poor of Low-Income Low-Savings Low-Investment Low-Income to one of Low-Income-Oreant-Investment Increased-Income Increased-Savings Increased-Investment Increased- Income. 3. The Programme Objective; to determine the impact and viability of such programme in a representative rural areas with a problem of persistent poverty, to monitor, evaluate and report on the result of pilot project, to prepare a manual for the extension of the programme, to write full scale analysis of the project experiences.
