World recession and the international financial system: perspective, problems and prospects

Abstract

When the decade of the 1980s began, the world economy as plagued by difficult problems of what has come to be know as "stagflation", namely, sluggish growth, rapid inflation and high rates of unemployment in the major industrial countries, in the face of the rising cost of energy and increasing trade protectionist tendencies on a global basis.
