dc.description.abstractThe variegated sociological problems arising from Malaysia's ation multi-racial, multi-lingual and multi-cultural configuration are of pa such great moment that the nation's heart-beat may be said, without of fear of exaggeration, to be dictated by the balance achieved between three elements. These are the artery of ethnicity, the vein of political nationalism, and the relative strength of the cardiac muscles to generate the throbbing need for national unity. If the equilibrium is maintained, the chemistry of the body politic will proceed efficiently; but where scholars who it is not, the assistance of a pace maker may become vital to the survival of the nation's health.en_US
