Abstract: Studies have largely reported perception on lower managerial capabilities of women leaders. As a matter of fact, it has been said that one of the most critical and challenging tasks faced by Asian women in entering and succeeding leadership posts is the persistent stereotypes that distort the evaluation of women's performance and potential. Women were either perceived as incompetent in leading tasks, or thought to be more successful if they appear to be masculine-like in dispositions or in managing practices. However, there were also studies that potrayed women as better leaders due to their adoption of transformational leadership, that has been cited in literatures as one of the most effective leadership styles. In relation to the embedded paradox, a study was conducted to assess the similarities and differences between men and women leadership. Preliminary findings of the study showed that both men and women leaders possess similar traits, but had both similarities and differences in their ways of leading others. The findings also indicated the compromise of organizational social structure in having more women leaders.
