dc.description.abstract | Signs and Symptons of Overtraining In Young Athletes Overtraining injuries in young athletes are a rela- tively modern phenomenon related to the advent of highly orga- nised repetitive training for sports. Adolescents are more sus- ceptible to overuse injuries than adults because of their de- veloping immature skeleton. This structural weakness, combined with the natural growing process which predisposes the body to muscular imbalances, creates a set of injuries unique to this population. The signs and symptons of the overtraining are dis- cussed in relation to the particular actions resulting in the injury and to the particular sports involved. These will include swimming, athletics, gymnastics, rowing, tennis, badminton, soccer et al. | en_US |
