Towards improved professional preparation in physical education

Abstract

My paper this afternoon focuses on the preparation of teachers for a changing society with special emphasis on realistic preparation of teachers. New, complex and powerful forces - social, cultural, political and economic, interrelate in determining the direction of future changes in our educational program. During last decade, specifically in Malaysia and Singapore, these forces have been creating a dynamic society which demands active and vital citizens who understand cultures, institutions, languages and goals of all people in this part of the world.
