dc.description.abstractThe Objectives of Physical Education The national goal of education is stated in the "Garis Besar Haluan Negara" (the Broad Outline of the State Policy) as to educate an individual to become a development oriented citizen who is physically and mentally healthy, who has knowledge and skills that enable him to develope creativeness, responsi- bility and a democratic attitude with a deep sense of tolerance, who is able to develop his intellectual capacity based on sublime moral values, who loves his nation and his fellow human beings in accordance with the principles of the 1945 constitution. Conforming to the goal of education, the main objectives of physical education are as follows. (1) the widening of the knowledge of sports, (2) the maintenance of physical growth, physical fitness and health, (3) the improvement of sports skills, and (4) the development of values and attitudes toward physical activities.en_US
