Abstract: Structures installed in the South China Sea, offshore Terengganu attract the growth of marine organisms. Field measurements and research conducted by Esso Production Malaysia Inc. predict that the hard growth community can achieve a thickness of 150 mm in 12 years. These marine organisms attach themselves to the offshore structures and impose additional oceanographic loadings on the structures. It is imperative that these effects be considered in the design and operation of the structures.
