Abstract: | The first regular sampling of Swedish river waters was performed during the period 1909-1923. Only a few elements were determined such as Ca, S, C1, organic matter and suspended matter. The sampling frequency was very uneven and part of the sampling stations were located far from the coast of the Baltic. Only by rather uncertain computations and assumptions of the discharges per unit area is it possible to estimate the total transport of some substances to the Baltic on the basis of these data. As for organic matter a total discharge of 2.5 million tons has been given. (Statens offent-liga utredningar, 1967:43, Jordbruksdepartementet.) |
