Abstract: The impact of Information Technology (IT) on the development of the country over the last five years has increased tremendously. In the process, the people, from students to the top managers and leaders, have become more aware of the pervasiveness of IT on their daily activities. So much so that the IT professionals in the country have raised the issue of the need for a much clearer policy for the future development of IT so that the country can gain maximum advantage from it. At the same time, more opinions have been expressed in favor of a concrete action plan rather than a policy to chart our IT development. In the absence of any concrete policy document on IT, other relevant documents will have to be examined.
