Abstract: | The remote sensing technology has greatly advanced during the past 20 years since the launch of Landsat-1 in providing useful digital images of various spectral bands. Many fields of study have obtained large benefit with the remotely sensed data, using highly developed computer technology. The mapping community was not an exception. Numerous number of studies were made to reveal the potential of remotely sensed multispectral images particularly for land cover mapping. Topographic mapping of medium scale with these images, however, seemed impractical, since early remote sensing technology allowed virtually no stereo images of high spatial resolution. |
