Abstract: Department of Survey and Mapping, Malaysia The Department of Survey and Mapping, Malaysia ( DSMM) consists of a Cadastral Division, a Mapping Division, as well as a Military Cell to support Military Mapping requirements. 2. A RE-DEFINITION OF DSMM'S MISSION STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVES The Department's objectives were redefined at a Meeting held in the island of Pangkor, Peninsular Malaysia sometime in 1990. This was done as it was felt that new objectives need to be formulated so as to cater for the new areas of emphasis for the Department, viz: product and customer service orientated, as well as maintaining an efficient and quality survey and mapping services. Pursuant to this, at a follow-up meeting held in December 1991 at Air Keroh, Melaka, a further review was carried out on the Department's objectives and a Mission Statement was formulated, consonant with current government policies enunciated, viz: 2nd Outline Perspective Plan (OPP2), Sixth Malaysia Development Plan ( 1991 - 1996 ), and the National Development Policy. The existing organisation chart was also reviewed, and an interim one which reflected the new Mission Statement and Objectives was accepted.
