| Abstract: | The paper highlights major developments in computerized map production system over past decade and focuses on the most interesting and important development in database management side of the Digital Mapping Technology. As the amount of data captured is rapidly increasing, the users of map production systems are now migrating into the world of a new generation Map Information Systems/Geographic Information Management Systems (GIMS). This paper attempts to explain the technological trend using a system architectural model of Tellus/GIMS. |
