Abstract: | One of the attractions of a destination lies in the uniqueness of its cultural landscape. For Malaysia, it is the expansive agricultural and rural scenes. In the face of urbanisation and industrialisation however, this imagery of the exotic far east is slowly fading out against the homogeneous skyline of skyscrapers and industrial complexes. While the agricultural ambience is still felt outside the urban limits, it is rendered nil within. Fetishism and sentiments, nevertheless, remains amongst the peoples as proven by the earmarking of public funds for the construction of agricultural parks in the urban regions. In addition to these pockets of thematic developments, landscape architects in the country have developed design concepts evaluating from agrarianism in the transportation corridor, resort, recreation and inner city developments. |
