Abstract: | Malaysia's regimented forests comprising agricultural land, totals to more than five million hectares. Maximizing the agricultural land potential for other purposes along with traditional agricultural activities is the concept behind the potential development of agricultural tourism or agrotourism. Tourism has become an important economic activity in the overall growth of the economy, and under the Sixth Malaysia Plan, the emphasis for its further development will be to expand and diversify the tourism base in the attempt to reduce its reliance on a narrow range of activities and markets. Regimented forests can be developed into a unique and dedicated form of tourism, emphasizing not only on the commodities attributes but also on its educational, historical, ecological and scientific significance. |
