Abstract: | Agrotourism has the potential to generate equitable and broadbased socio-economic benefits to farming and rural families. It can achieve this if policy makers avoid the current preference either for Model I or Model II for tourism development: Model I emphasizes the role of government while Model II stresses the role of big, private companies. Instead the choice for agrotourism should be for Model III in which the provision of tourist board and lodging and activities are allowed to be in the hands of small-time farmers and villagers. |
