dc.description.abstractMelaka occupies the most prominent position of all the Malaysian states in so far as Malaysian history is concerned. It deserves the special attention that befits a city with a unique historical tradition and a rich cultural heritage. Melaka is indeed a historic state because, from its establishment in 1400 A.D., and its emergence as a City and Kingdom, it has in one way or other left its mark on the history of Malaysia. Even though Melaka was not the first state to emerge in Malaysia, the period of its Sultanate, has enabled an account of the Malay Peninsula be constructed with some degree of certainty.
