Abstract: The term "globalisation" has come to refer to a multiplicity of various forces profoundly influencing contemporary economies and societies in the Asia Pacific region. The dispersal of manufacturing production across many countries specialising in production of components and the emergence of "global "financial markets which instantly transfer huge amount of funds, far greater than those in the mere trade in goods and services, are often illustrated examples. The global reach of information and communication with the exponential growth of the Internet reflects significant changes. We can observe even a growingly perceived homogenisation of fashions, consumer goods, and lifestyles the world over.
