dc.description.abstractAccording to the existing written records the 13th century A.D. saw the rising of local kingdoms in South Sulawesi. The records take the form of informative statements written on parchments made of the dried leaves of Lontar trees. These forms the royal chronicles and are known as Lontara. Each of these local kingdoms was independent and exercised full authority in managing its own affairs and its subjects.en_US
