Studies on the Penan community in Sarawak have in the main been related to changes brought about by development which affect their land ownership and way of life, very little research has been conducted on the children and youth amongst them. Much has been heard about their lack of interest in schooling from different quarters, but the voices of the Penan students themselves remained muted. Based on a qualitative study using in-depth interviewing approach, this study explores their experiences of several Penan children in a secondary school in Ulu Limbang. Their experiences of theses children in school reflect the marginalised position of the Penan in the society. This study aims to lift up their voices in the hope that their wishes and aspirations will be respected and the right kind of assistance and support will be provided.en_US
