dc.description.abstract | This article attempts to examine the state of occupational hazard and other forms of risks in a Japanese owned electronic company operating in Sama Jaya Industrial Zone in Sarawak. It also attempts to gauge whether the employees have ever undergone medical screening while serving in the company and whether they frequently use any form of personal protective equipment while performing their jobs in their workplace. A survey of 230 employees were conducted and in addition observations were made at the factory. The findings shows that less than one third of the employees ever wear their personal protective equipment, only 5.2 percent went for medical check-up annually, while 88.7 percent did not undergo medical check up. Employees in this company are exposed to different form of occupational hazards which includes noise pollution, ergonomic issues and workers are also exposed to chemicals which are used to mix raw materials to form the slurry. | en_US |
