Abstract: The opening of China since 1979 has not only provided many business opportunities, but also stimulated a lot of research in that country. However, published data on Chinese attitudes towards foreign investors are sti 11 very limite<l. This study is an attempt to identify how Chinese factory managers view different foreign investors. The sample consisted mainly of Chinese factory managers, deputy factory managers and departmental heads. Among the four countries surveyed -- the United States, Japan, Singapore and West Germany -- it was found that the perception of Japanese investors differed most significantly from the other three groups of investors. Implications of the findings are also discussed.
