Abstract: The urbanization process is continuously modifying the pattern of land use and land cover to support human development. Analysing spatiotemporal land use change is essential for understanding its characteristic and ecological consequences. The study explored the spatiotemporal land use changes in lskandar Malaysia region before and after the booming of development. Assessment of the changes extracted and manipulated from historical spatial data and future policies. GIS is used to analyse the spatial changes from 1995 to 2025 and the landscape pattern was analysed using selected metrics in FRAGST ATS software. The findings reveal that agriculture areas were the major land converted into urban land use. The urbanization also changed the water body to urban land and modified the structure of the remaining ecological areas. The landscape pattern of the region would continuously change in accordance to its comprehensive develop plan. The results is important in contributing a better understanding of past land use planning in order to improve decision-making of land use planning in the region.
