The Canadian Chamber of Commerce supports all avenues available to liberalise trade. This is why we have long been supporters of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), including the current Uruguay Round negotiations. This is also why the Chamber was an active sup-porter of the Canada-United States Free Trade Agreement. We support the current Uruguay Round negotiations as well as the Fr A because we believe in the benefits that come from free markets. For these reasons, we are also in support of the negotiation of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The liberalisation of trade and the opening of the Canadian economy result in increased productivity, efficiency, and wealth.en_US
