Abstract: The study examines the linkage between urban poverty and possible occurrences of psychological effects in the community. Two categories of rural community have migrated to town, which are the educated and non-educated. The era of globalization has been hampering the uneducated causing them to slump further in to distress. Continuous hardships would increase dissatisfaction, reduces self-worth and self-esteem, thus intensifying the levels of psychological effects in the community. Poverty and psychological effects in the urban community can lead to further issues for the country. Several interventions are suggested in the study to minimize the psychological effects of urban poverty.
