Abstract: The study was conducted to investigate consumer shopping behaviours and store layout preferences among consumers within the Klang Valley areas. A total of 400 respondents participated in the study which was conducted in the top five most popular shopping malls within the area, namely Mid-valley Megamall, Suria KLCC, Sungei Wang Plaza, Sunway Pyramid and 1 -Utama. Systematic sampling method was adopted. The data were collected through guided interviews using questionnaires. This study found that nearly half of the respondents are impulsive shoppers and circular layout type is consumers most preferred store layout. Results in consumer behaviour groups and store layout preferences by gender and ethnicity group will be presented in paper. Adopting appropriate strategies of store design and traffic will help in fulfilling needs or preferences of the different types shopping behaviour.
