Abstract: | Over the past decades, globalization has become an irreversible process having impact on the field of higher education. Internationalization and regional integration are both considered responses of higher education to globalization. Although East Asia is a diverse region, it is meaningful for regional countries to cooperate and integrate, especially in the context that most member countries are now internationalizing their higher education. Since its start in 1986, the Doimoi policy in Vietnam has achieved remarkable development in higher education. However, it is still faced with serious chronic and emerging problems. Internationalization of higher education is therefore considered as one of the necessary solutions for Vietnam and its institutions to enhance educational quality and thus catch up with regional and international standards. |
