In (foreign/second) Language Learning, students are bound to make errors in writing due to the influence of 'equivalence matching' from native language which is unconsciously applied as a strategy. On the contrary, equivalence matching could be a remedy to overcome the mismatching applied by students in language learning. This paper attempts to look at the diaspora of language, specifically the interference of Malay in English Language Learning. It will first define the term diaspor used in analyzing language from the perspective of translation and proceeds to observe errors in writing. The focus is on writing errors made by students with Malay language background and discussion will propose the reasons for the errors made. The conclusion will suggest a matching strategy in language teaching/learning using Translational Units which should be acquired by language learners to avoid first/native language interference in language writing.en_US
