Appropriate approach is vital to enhance students' conceptual understanding on particular science concept thus sustains their interest toward learning science. This paper discuss computer oriented mastery approach used in teaching Biology topic on "Reproduction" for secondary science students as contrast to traditional teacher centered teaching. The effectiveness of the approach was gauged based on student's achievement and interest level using instrument encompasses Mastery Teaching Module, questionnaire and set of pre-test and post-test questions. Quasi experiment research of factorials 2 x 2 x 2 on mode of teaching, cognitive level and gender was carried out involving 88 science students. The finding exposed significant achievement on students conceptual understanding on Reproduction concept using computer oriented mastery approach. Low level cognitive students gained benefit beside student of high level cognitive. Gender didn't show significant different in student achievement. The result also revealed that no interaction between student cognitive level and gender on students achievement. Apart from that student reflected high interest in learning the topics. It's suggested that science Biology teachers adapt the approach to stimulate and enhance student understanding and interest in studying Biology.en_US
