Abstract: The advent of the Internet and its world-wide-web has opened up new forms of experience with new and diverse levels of expressions. Because of the global nature of this form of broadcast, the presenters or authors are fully aware that they are writing and designing their message for a multi-cultural and multi-opinion audience. Yet paradoxically, the Internet seemingly invites the audience to an individualistic participation. Each logger is given an interactive opportunity in picking and choosing from a variety of options that can expand the breadth and depth of the information they are reading. These options can be expressed through a variety of media techniques. This paper is an exploration of the forms of language used in the Internet. Based on a study of selected websites hosted in English, this paper attempts to define the language strategies commonly adopted by authors.
