dc.description.abstractThis study investigates the phenonenon of linguistic globalization (LG) and its bearing on language identity and unity in the Arab countries. The sociolinguistic profiles in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Oman will be examined in relationship to LG.The following issues and questions are raised: is LG a blessing or an evil? What are the riding factors behind LG? Is LG a sign of linguistic imperialism? What implications can be drawn from language planning FROM AND into LG? Is LG an invasion to national languages?
