Abstract: | The smart home was proposes by researchers since early 21s1 century. The concepts of smart home are to raise the community status, to change the community lifestyle and to adapt high technology propertied onto their day-to-day living. This project is to develop a controller system that is internet capable and Windows-based that is using ASP.NET 2.0 and Visual Basic 2005 software to control the home appliances. This system utilizes Internet as interface to control the home appliances such as lamp, rice cooker and others. It is implemented on a dedicated server that has an internet as a medium to communicate with other computer. With a simple and user friendly interface, the list of appliances in this system can be add or delete by the system. Communication from server to appliances is done with transmitter circuit through radio frequency module. At the receiving end, a microcontroller is located to control the appliances' state of operation. Therefore, this system can be controlled by any electronic devices that have internet access such as computer and PDA. The achievement of this project will create a new approach to implement smart home system while boosting the connectivity coverage by using Internet and RF modules. |
