They can roughly be divided into three classes: (i) the Rich (0.8 billion), (ii) the Traditional (1.2 billion), and (iii) the Poor (4.0 billion), based on the criterion of GDP in US$ per capita (Purchasing Power Parity corrected) of (i) <4000, (ii) 4000-16000 and (iii) >16000 respectively.-
