dc.description.abstractThe Northern Peninsula border region has for a long time been a homeland and a common meeting point for people of various ethnic and cultural background. On the Malaysian side -- in the states of Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis -- there are the Malays and Malaysian of Thai origins, while across the border -- in the provinces of Patani, Yala, Narathiwat, Saton and Songkhla-- there are ethnic Thais and Thais of Malay origins.-
