Abstract: This paper report on local knowledge of the environment and the utilization of plants in Simeulue island, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. Orang Leukon dependence on available natural resources is reflected in various established customs and traditions. For examples, they have clear perception between conserved, cultivated, and uncultivated areas. Around 199 of plant species utilized by orang Leukon were recorded. Local people have eleven categories of plant used provide material for medicinal plant, foods, construction, material, firewood, ropes, dyes, clothing, tools as well as material for cultural and ornamental uses. This observation result indicated that local wisdom on the utilization ofplant, sustainability and prospect jar their development. This paper show ten species for each categories that chosen by local people and their values (LUVI =Ioca users value index).
