Abstract: | Antibacterial activities on the crude methanol extract of the bark of Vatica Bella from HSUITM Pahang were investigated. Antibacterial activities were tested against Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria which were Eschericia coli and Bacillus subtilis. The antibacterial testing was carried out by using the disc diffusion method. Blanc discs of 6mm diameter were loaded with 50 and 25 mglml of the methanol crude applied to the inoculate plate. The in-vitro bioassay of this species against bacterial revealed that there were inhibition zone occurred of bacterial tested and it were compared to commercial antibiotics which were Penicilin (Zunit), Colistin (10Jig), Vancomycin (Sug), Erythromycin (60jlg) and Rifampicin (15Jig). The present investigation is a part of our ongoing studies on the oligostilbenoids of Malaysian Dipterocarpaceae in which no phytochemical data was recorded on Vatica bella. |
